Instructors:
Sheila Anozier is a dancer, choreographer, teacher and member of Brave New World Rep. Her numerous teaching credits include a highly popular class in Haitian/African dance at CRUNCH.
Cynthia Babak is a teacher/actress/playwright/director. Cynthia has over 20 years professional experience. Associate Artistic Director and founding member of Brave New World Rep, She has worked as teaching artist and drama director in the public and private schools for over a decade with organizations including Roundabout Theatre Co., Manhattan Theatre Club and Sundog Theatre. She has taught drama to teens in the conservatory setting of Neighborhood Playhouse Juniors as well as Poly Prep’s Performing Arts Camp. She emphasizes grounding students in an understanding of text and the physical skills required for stage acting, with a special light placed on self expression and self confidence.
Ezra Barnes is a teacher, actor, and director. A member of Brave New World Rep, he has performed Off-Broadway, with numerous regional theater companies and is the Founding Artistic Director of Shakespeare on the Sound. A longtime Brooklyn resident and parent, Ezra has taught theater for young people at Saint Ann’s School, the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music, Poly Prep, and Piper Theatre. Claire Beckman is a teacher, actor, director, producer and Co-Founder of Brave New World Rep. Claire has taught her own program, “Dreama” to Brooklyn children since 2000. She has also taught in after-school programs and camps at PS10, Brooklyn Heights Montessori, Berkeley Carroll, Creative Theatrics, The Children’s School, and was a teaching artist for BAM. She is the Producing Artistic Director of BNW where she has directed and acted in over 25 readings and productions including To Kill a Mockingbird, The Tempest and The Crucible.
Stacey Cervellino is a teacher, actress, writer, and director. A member of Brave New World Rep, she is the Education Director for Brave New World Studio, and has taught in various Graduate and Undergraduate Programs in the U.S. and in the New York City School system. As a performer she has been seen in plays and musicals in New York and Boston including The Culture Project.
Michael Kirby Michael’s many teaching artist credits include work with Epic Theatre Ensemble, Shakespeare@Play, Kingsmen Shakespeare Festival, Old Globe Theatre, and University of Southern Claifornia. Acting credits include Brave New World, Epic Theatre, Hip to Hip, Mark Taper Forum, The Old Globe and Antaeus. He holds an MFA from The Old Globe/ USD and a BA from Cal State Fullerton. And recently became a Brave New World Rep company member.
Cathy Mancuso is an actor and member of Brave New World Rep. She has worked with children for years including assisting workshops for children for Brave New World Shakespeare Festival.
John Morgan is a teacher, actor, director and technical director. Associate Artistic Director and Co-Founder of Brave New World Rep, John teaches stage combat and set design full time at The Brooklyn School of Music and Theatre and has taught in the theatre departments at Brooklyn College, Webster University, The University of Northern Michigan, NYU and SUNY Rockland. A Member of the Society of American Fight Directors and Choreographers, John has choreographed fights for numerous Shakespeare Festivals and 20 seasons of Theatreworks USA’s production of The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe, and other plays.
Caroline Ryburn has 30 years of teaching experience with children and adults of all ages. She has taught in public and private school programs, dance schools, and performing arts residencies including Poly Prep Country Day School, P.S. 261, Piper Theater, and The Valerie Bettis School of Dance. She has been the Creative Drama teacher at Cobble Hill Cooperative Playschool for over 15 years. Caroline is a proud company member of Brave New World Repertory Theatre.
Christine Siracusa is an actress, singer, teacher and founding member of Brave New World Rep. She has taught music theatre acting and singing with The Young Actor’s Workshop.
Stuart Zagnit is a professional actor with over thirty years performing experience in theater, musical theater, television and film, as well as an educator who inspires and instructs students in the craft of acting and improvisation both as an art and as a form of self-expression. He has conducted acting master classes and workshops throughout the East Coast, from the Berkshire Theatre Festival in Massachusetts to the North Hills Middle School in Springfield, PA. He is a founding member of BNW.
