Mission

Brave New World Repertory Theatre, a Brooklyn-based company, reaches under-served audiences to promote a love of theatre, with re-imagined classics and brave new works that reflect our diverse community. BNW’s free-to-low-cost programs range from intimate readings to large outdoor productions, and cast unique and historic Brooklyn venues in a leading role. We seek to tell stories that celebrate life and promote social justice; stories that make us laugh, feel deeply, and find common ground.

Core Values & Beliefs

Diversity, Equity Inclusion are not just buzz words; they form the core of our beliefs and are multi-cultural, multi-generational, and more interesting.

Theatre should be accessible (free or low cost) for every race, class, sexual orientation and age.

Theatre can promote social justice and still be entertaining.

Our common human experiences can transcend social divides.

Black Lives Matter on stage and off.

As artists we can foster civic engagement and build bridges between communities.

Art changes lives for the better.

Outreach is not just for kids.

Theatre is not just for adults.

All The World's a Stage means "site-specific" is legitimate theatre.

BNW Vision

A resident company of professional, Brooklyn-based theatre artists that reflects a subway car in its diversity. We bring remarkable, relevant stories to the doorstep of our communities, celebrating our shared humanity with inventive, immersive storytelling in unique and historic Brooklyn settings.

Aesthetic and Curatorial Framework

Our Brooklyn-based sensibility means that we are not driven by the commercial Broadway market. We have the freedom to explore and even fail, at a safe distance from the glare of all that, while still accessing a pool of some of the finest theatre artists in the country, many of whom value the opportunity to work in and for their own community. Our site-specific aesthetic means that our venues are leading characters in the stories we tell; our settings are an integral aspect of our curatorial framework, and have as much to do with artistic sensibility as with building community.
